The wait is finally over. Under the searing sun of the Sakhir desert, the 2026 "Great Reset" has officially moved from the drawing board to the asphalt. 

Today marked the opening of the first three-day pre-season test, and the paddock is already buzzing with the electricity of a new age.

While testing times are notoriously deceptive, Max Verstappen looked every bit the hungry champion this morning. Topping the early charts with a 1m35.433s, the Dutchman’s Red Bull appears stable, balanced, and—crucially—reliable.

But he isn't alone. Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have been quick to respond. 

McLaren’s "MCL40" is a papaya blur on track, with Piastri already within three-tenths of the benchmark. With Lando sporting the number one on his car, the internal battle at Woking is already the talk of the pit lane.

The Maranello duo has spent the winter in a training "lockdown," and it shows. Lewis Hamilton—now officially dapper in Ferrari red—has been relentless, logging over 30 laps this morning despite an early spin at Turn 1. Beside him, Charles Leclerc looks equally dialled in. 

If Ferrari has unlocked the secrets of the 2026 power unit, they could be the team to beat.

While the Yin and Yang" livery, is a visual masterpiece. While Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez are still assessing its reaction to the bumps of Sakhir, the presence of an 11th team has transformed the grid’s energy.

Meanwhile, Aston Martin remains the enigma. Lance Stroll has been quiet, keeping the Adrian Newey-designed AMR26 mostly under wraps with high-fuel runs.
