Spa-Francorchamps: The Masterclass Guide

Well, it's Thursday, and rather than talk about speculation about who will win this weekend, whether Ferrari will take on Mercedes, or whether Red Bull has turned a corner. let's talk race track facts.

This is one of my favourite race tracks, and I love the atmosphere, the fun, and even the unpredictability of the racing.

Seven kilometres through the Ardennes Forest. Spa is the ultimate driver’s track—fast, unforgiving, and completely epic.

Spa Francorchamps, Eau Rouge

The Sector Breakdown

  • T1 (La Source): A tight, heavy-braking hairpin. Get on the gas early to build momentum down the hill.

  • T2–T4 (Eau Rouge & Raidillon): The ultimate test of nerve. Compress at the bottom, flick right-left uphill blind at 190mph, and pray the rear stays planted.

  • Kemmel Straight to T5–T7 (Les Combes): The prime slipstream overtaking spot on the calendar. A quick, heavy-braking chicane that demands precise curb riding.

  • T8 (Bruxelles) & T9 (Jacky Ickx): A long, off-camber downhill right-hander that forever threatens to lock the front-inside tyre, followed by a snappy left-flick.

  • T10–T11 (Pouhon): Pure magic. A high-speed, double-apex left-hander where drivers pull over 5g while hanging on by a thread.

  • T12–T15 (Fagnes to Stavelot): A rhythmic, flowing technical section. You need a patient throttle here to set up the flat-out blast home.

  • T17–T19 (Blanchimont to the Bus Stop): A terrifyingly fast left sweep leads into a brutal braking zone for the final tight chicane. Nail the exit, and you're across the line.
