With one of my favourite race tracks next up on the calendar, few circuits in motorsport stir the soul quite like the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Especially with the new McLaren and Lando Norris resurgence, and Ferrari now hot on the heels of the fore-runners in Toto Wolff's Silver Arrows.

Known globally as Il Tempio della Velocità (The Temple of Speed), this cathedral of pure velocity nestled in the royal park north of Milan is preparing to host the 2026 Italian Grand Prix next weekend (September 4–6).

At Senate Grand Prix, we know Monza is not merely another race on the calendar; it is a sacred pilgrimage where century-old motorsport lore, straight-line fury, and Tifosi passion collide.

A Century of Speed: The Monza Legacy

Built in 1922 in a record-breaking 110 days, Monza is the third purpose-built motor racing circuit, after Brooklands and Indianapolis.

• The 10 km Dual Circuit: The original circuit integrated a 5.5 km road course with a 4.5 km concrete banked oval. Drivers completed laps that combined high-speed road tarmac with the vertical G-forces of the high banking.

• A Formula 1® Pillar: Monza hosted the season finale of the inaugural 1950 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. Since that maiden season, it has featured on the calendar every single year, with only 1980 held at Imola during circuit renovations.

• The Historic Heart of Ferrari: Scuderia Ferrari has claimed an unrivalled 21 victories on home soil. From the emotional 1988 1-2 finish weeks after Enzo Ferrari’s passing to Charles Leclerc holding off all challengers in 2019 and 2024, Monza is where scarlet legends are born.
