In a dramatic, weather-affected Dutch Grand Prix packed with red flags and high-speed heartbreak, reigning World Champion Lando Norris delivered a masterclass in calculated race craft, taking his second consecutive Grand Prix victory of 2026 and proving that McLaren's mid-season upgrade surge is the real deal.
"And I must admit I didn't think Lando could hold onto the lead in the last six laps, but somehow Lando and the car were in warp speed."

- The Early Shock: The home crowd was silenced on the opening lap when Max Verstappen spun on the damp Turn 14 banking, hitting the outer barriers and triggering an immediate red flag. Verstappen walked away unscathed, but his home farewell ended prematurely.
- The Turn 1 Decider: When the race resumed, Kimi Antonelli jumped into the lead, controlling the pace for the majority of the afternoon. But McLaren played the strategy game to perfection, keeping Norris out seven laps longer on his middle stint.
- The VSC Gamble: A late Virtual Safety Car on lap 56 triggered by Esteban Ocon’s Haas saw Mercedes roll the dice, pitting Antonelli for fresh soft tyres. While Antonelli struggled for grip on the restart and criticised the team's gamble, Norris pulled clear by over 11 seconds to take the checkered flag.
- Silver Arrows Orders: George Russell, who had stayed out to hold track position, was swapped with Antonelli on lap 65. Despite his frustration over team orders, Russell held off a ferocious late charge from Lewis Hamilton to secure third place by just 0.8 seconds and guarantee a double podium for Mercedes.
