I have been here a few times now, and I am still astonished that the race, nestled within the coastal dunes of North Holland, takes place at the Circuit Zandvoort, surrounded by sand directly on the beach, and I will be very sad to see it go. 

It is a legendary, old-school venue defined by steep elevation changes, blind crests, and zero margin for error, featuring two incredible banked turns.

Zandvoort’s 4.259 km layout offers a thrilling, roller-coaster challenge where drivers must balance raw aggression with absolute precision.

Sector 1: The Banked Opener & Dune Sweepers

• Turn 1 (Tarzanbocht): The main pit straight leads into a heavy-braking, slightly banked right-hand hairpin. Named after a local legend, Tarzan is the primary overtaking zone on the track.

• Turn 2 (Gerlachbocht): A quick, medium-speed right-hander that quickly compresses the car as drivers prepare to transition into the banking.

• Turn 3 (Hugenholtzbocht): One of modern Formula 1®’s most spectacular corners.Hugenholtz features a dramatic 18-degree banking (steeper than Indianapolis). Drivers take a high, wall-hugging entry line to ride the bowl and slingshot down the hill toward Turn 4.

• Turn 4 & 5 (Hunserug): A sweeping uphill right-hander where smooth throttle control is critical to launch onto the crest leading through Turn 5.

Sector 2: High-Speed Precision Through the Dunes

• Turn 6 & 7 (Rob Slotemakerbocht): A fast, flowing right-hand kink leading directly into Turn 7, a long, high-speed right-hander taken at nearly 160 mph. Drivers pull over 4g as lateral loads test the left-side tyres through the natural dune crests.

• Turn 8 (Scheivlak): Zandvoort's most notorious corner. A high-speed, blind, downhill right-hander where drivers enter at full pelt over a crest. Precision is non-negotiable—a single mistake here guarantees a trip into the gravel trap.

• Turn 9 (Mastersbocht): A medium-speed right-hander that demands smooth trail-braking down the slope to avoid understeer.

• Turn 10 (Boekelbocht): A short, snappy left-hand kink that sets up the entry into the technical final sector.

Sector 3: The Technical Chicane & The Final Banking

• Turn 11 & 12 (Hans Ernstbocht): A tight, heavy-braking right-left chicane. Drivers ride the aggressive curbs hard on entry, managing rear traction on exit to prevent wheelspin.

• Turn 13 (Kumhobocht): A medium-speed right-hander that sweeps up and over a small dune crest.

• Turn 14 (Arie Luyendykbocht): The grand finale. A sweeping 18-degree banked right-hander. Drivers hit full throttle before even entering the banking, carrying massive speed with DRS open down the main straight to complete the lap.
