A Resounding Victory for the 15th Historique
Monaco’s Timeless Roar: A Resounding Victory for the 15th Historique
The dust has settled in the Principality, the last of the V12 echoes have faded from the tunnel, and the Senate Grand Prix team is back at Senate HQ with a profound sense of pride. Despite the early April dates—the earliest in the event's storied history—the 15th Grand Prix de Monaco Historique was, by every measure, a world-class triumph.
From our five-star reviews to the electric atmosphere in the harbour, it’s clear that Monaco remains the undisputed "Mecca" of global motorsport.
The Red Tide: 75 Years of Ferrari Magic
The highlight for many was the "Red Carpet" rolled out for Scuderia Ferrari. Celebrating 75 years of heritage, the circuit was transformed into a rolling museum of the Prancing Horse.
- The Parade: The sight (and sound!) of twelve legendary Ferrari F1® cars—spanning from 1998 to 2011—was a visceral reminder of why this team commands such reverence.
- Schumacher’s Legacy: Watching the F2002 and the dominant F2004 scream through Rascasse was a "lump in the throat" moment for every fan. These V10 icons, driven to glory by Michael Schumacher, still look as fast and fierce as they did twenty years ago.
- V12 Symphony: The roar of the 1990s V12 engines, echoing off the harbour walls, provided a soundtrack that modern racing simply cannot replicate.
The Auction: Breaking Records in Monte Carlo
The synergy between the racing and prestige auctions has elevated this event to rival Pebble Beach and Goodwood.
- RM Sotheby’s (Grimaldi Forum): has become a weekend with over €85 million in sales. The star of the show, a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spider, hammered for over £14.5 million, proving that the appetite for high-end automotive history is stronger than ever.
- Bonhams (The Fairmont): Kicking off the weekend with over €10 million in sales, featuring everything from Niki Lauda’s rear wings to Graham Hill’s first F1 Lotus.
The Senate Experience: A View Like No Other
Our guests at the Garnier Suite (Hotel de Paris) and the Midi Terrace (Hotel Hermitage) enjoyed front-row seats to the drama.
- Series G Drama: Stuart Hall’s victory in the March 821 capped off a thrilling Sunday of eight races that saw rain add a final, unpredictable twist at La Rascasse.
- The Atmosphere: Whether it was watching the 1930s Bugattis drift through Casino Square or the 1970s ground-effect monsters charge up Beau Rivage, the 15th edition delivered on its promise of "total immersion."
As we at Senate Grand Prix look ahead to the Monaco Grand Prix later this month, after yesterday's debriefing, we can all agree that the Historique has set an impossibly high bar.
It is an event that celebrates the soul of the sport, and we are honoured to have been part of its journey for over three decades.
And as always, when the lights go out and the drama unfolds, here at Senate Grand Prix, there is only one winner, and that's you, the race fans!
