McLaren's Gap Shrinks
While it's been all celebrations in Woking with McLaren clinching the Constructors' Championship in Singapore, the internal difficulties were there for all to see in Austin.
The team endured a devastating Saturday Sprint race, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri colliding at Turn 1, taking both out of the race.
- Lando Norris salvaged his Texas campaign by making a brilliant late pass on Charles Leclerc to secure a vital second place in the Grand Prix. Norris closed the gap to his teammate, Piastri, to a mere 14 points.
- Oscar Piastri's challenging run continues. The Australian finished a distant fifth and admitted, "This weekend was not what I wanted or expected." His lead is rapidly shrinking under the immense pressure.
Max: Unstoppable in the Lone Star State
Verstappen secured his fifth Grand Prix win of the season in Texas, converting his pole position into a crushing, lights-to-flag victory.
It was a perfect weekend for the four-time World Champion, as the summer break has reduced his deficit to championship leader Oscar Piastri from over 100 points to just 40 points, with five races and two Sprints remaining.
Ferrari's Strategy Masterpiece
Despite falling short of the win, Ferrari delivered a strategic masterstroke that kept the race alive.
Charles Leclerc started the race on the soft tyre, which was a gamble that paid off, allowing him to jump Norris at the start and in the pits. While Norris eventually got past, Leclerc secured a well-deserved podium finish, providing a much-needed morale boost for the Scuderia.
The Texas Grand Prix has proven that the 2025 title fight is headed for a tense, dramatic conclusion.
With Max now firmly in contention, every point and every move will be scrutinised. The circus rolls next to Mexico City, where Max Verstappen has five career victories, ensuring the pressure will only intensify.
