Why the 2026 Regulations are Exactly What F1® Needed

Why the 2026 Regulations are Exactly What F1 ®  Needed I have listened, and I have listened, and I have watched the new F1 ® Era!  I have to say I am happy with what I am seeing. The debate over Formula 1 ® ’s new technical era is heating up in the paddock, but let’s be honest: these radical changes are exactly what the sport needed. While purists push back against active aerodynamics and unpredictable electrical deployment strategies, the metrics on our screens don't lie.  Overtaking is up, and the racing has been nothing short of thrilling. Killing the ' Dirty Air' Monster For years, the " dirty air " aerodynamic wake ruined close wheel-to-wheel racing.  Getting stuck behind a rival meant losing vital downforce, killing your momentum, and destroying your tyres within a handful of laps.  That modern aero war had to end to protect the soul of trackside racing, and while reliability is somewhat off, what we are seeing is very interesting. Piastri Vs Norris!

This season so far has offered the most exciting race season that we've seen in a long time. The core of this fight is not between different teams, but within one: the fierce rivalry between Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.

Piastri's Charge: The Bravery That Stunned the World

The intensity between the two McLaren drivers is palpable. At the recent Belgian Grand Prix, Oscar Piastri's breathtaking move up the Kemmel Straight after Eau Rouge in the wet, where he outmanoeuvred Lando Norris, stunned the world.

His fearless drive demonstrated that this young Australian driver is arguably in a league ahead of Lando Norris right now, a sentiment reflected in the 16-point gap that separates them at the top of the standings.

As the heat and pressure intensify, it's now down to who wants it more. They both have the machinery and car beneath them.

Oscar Piastri is leading the charge with a total of 266 points from 13 races, winning six of them, a testament to his sheer talent and determination. Lando Norris follows closely behind with 250 points, having secured four wins himself.

The excitement is building as we move into the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend.

McLaren chief  Zak Brown has publicly stated that the title battle between his two drivers will be managed, but essentially, we will leave our drivers to race.

He is not ruling out Max Verstappen yet, who has lost ground over the last three events and now sits 81 points behind championship leader Piastri with 11 races to go. "I think it's too early...Max, there's a lot of racing left to go," Brown said. "We've got a nice gap, but I wouldn't know we're there.

We've all been around this sport too long. To start dancing before you're in the end zone is a hazardous thing to do."

Verstappen, however, will be hungry for a win, especially with two victories at the Hungaroring under his belt.

He's an undisputed legend of the sport, and you should never, ever write him off. He is more than capable of stringing together a couple of race wins between now and Abu Dhabi, as the championship race is far from over.

And as always, when the lights go out and the drama unfolds, here at Senate Grand Prix, there is only one winner, and that's you, the race fans!
