Why the 2026 Regulations are Exactly What F1® Needed

Why the 2026 Regulations are Exactly What F1 ®  Needed I have listened, and I have listened, and I have watched the new F1 ® Era!  I have to say I am happy with what I am seeing. The debate over Formula 1 ® ’s new technical era is heating up in the paddock, but let’s be honest: these radical changes are exactly what the sport needed. While purists push back against active aerodynamics and unpredictable electrical deployment strategies, the metrics on our screens don't lie.  Overtaking is up, and the racing has been nothing short of thrilling. Killing the ' Dirty Air' Monster For years, the " dirty air " aerodynamic wake ruined close wheel-to-wheel racing.  Getting stuck behind a rival meant losing vital downforce, killing your momentum, and destroying your tyres within a handful of laps.  That modern aero war had to end to protect the soul of trackside racing, and while reliability is somewhat off, what we are seeing is very interesting. Thank You, Christian Horner, on Two Decades of Dominance

Here at Senate Grand Prix, we find ourselves reflecting on news that has sent ripples across the entire Formula 1® paddock

The announcement of Christian Horner's departure from his role as CEO and Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, after two decades at the helm, came as a major shock to many.

While the intricate details and varied reasons for this seismic shift are now emerging, we would like to acknowledge the monumental contribution Christian Horner has made to Red Bull Racing, and indeed, to Formula 1® itself.

As a valued client, Red Bull Racing has always been synonymous with excellence in our eyes. And much of that excellence, for twenty incredible years, was personified by Christian Horner.

Two Decades of Unprecedented Success

When Christian Horner took charge in 2005, Red Bull was a relatively new entrant, having acquired the Jaguar F1® team. What followed was one of the most astonishing transformations in modern motorsport history that I have ever seen as a race fan and someone who works in the sport.

Under the leadership of the Red Bull Team Principal, RB Racing became the biggest name in F1® Racing, consistently challenging and ultimately dominating the sport across two distinct eras with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.

  • 6 World Constructors' Championships
  • 8 World Drivers' Championships (with Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen)
  • 124 Grand Prix wins
  • 107 Pole Positions
  • 287 Race Podiums

Team Principal Christian Horner oversaw the rise of two generational talents in Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen, meticulously building a team culture that fostered relentless innovation and unparalleled competitiveness, and was instrumental in attracting figures like Adrian Newey, forming the very core of a championship-winning, world-branded dynasty.

Christian Horner himself, in a heartfelt message following his departure, expressed pride in what was achieved: “After an incredible journey of twenty years together, it is with a heavy heart that today I say goodbye to the Team I have absolutely loved.”

While the future of Red Bull Racing will undoubtedly evolve, we at Senate Grand Prix would like to extend our profound gratitude to Christian Horner for two decades of relentless dedication and strategic brilliance.

We are grateful for the moments of triumph and the thrilling battles Red Bull Racing provided under his leadership, consistently raising the bar for the entire sport.

And as always, when the lights go out and the drama unfolds, here at Senate Grand Prix, there is only one winner, and that's you, the race fans!
