Pato O'Ward and Cadillac F1®

Formula 1® is a constant hotbed of speculation.

With a new team like F1® Cadillac set to burst onto the scene in 2026, the rumour mill has been working overtime.

One name that's been consistently whispered in connection with those coveted seats is IndyCar sensation Pato O'Ward, the talented Mexican driver, currently battling at the sharp end of the IndyCar Series.

For months, the prospect of O'Ward joining an American F1® outfit seemed like a dream scenario for many fans, and it seems we will have to wait a bit longer to find out.

His existing ties to Formula 1® aren't just fantasy; he has been an active participant in Free Practice 1 sessions for McLaren, including at the 2024 Mexican Grand Prix, and is slated for a repeat performance this year in his role as a reserve driver. It's easy to see why the dots were being connected.

While the new American team is yet to officially announce any driver signings – keeping us all on tenterhooks – O'Ward's looks like an exciting prospect.

The dream of Pato O'Ward in a Cadillac F1® car might be on the cards for 2026.  The driver market remains wide open and promises to deliver plenty more twists and turns. Who will ultimately fill those seats?
