Ferrari's Rocky Start to 2025: Can Miami Spark the Revival?

Ferrari. The name itself conjures images of roaring engines, passionate fans draped in scarlet, and a legacy woven into the very fabric of Formula One®.

Ferrari is a global brand that transcends motorsport, an icon as deeply ingrained in our collective consciousness as Ferrari has been a constant presence on the F1® grid.

With the arrival of Lewis Hamilton alongside the already established talent of Charles Leclerc, Ferrari boasts arguably the most marketable driver pairing in the current F1® landscape. Both bring their unique star power and global appeal to the legendary Italian team. Yet, the opening chapters of the 2025 season have painted a less-than-ideal picture for the Prancing Horse.

Early results haven't lived up to the pre-season hype, leaving many wondering when Ferrari will unleash its full potential.

While Charles Leclerc currently holds a slight edge in the championship standingsas evidenced by the points and finishing positions, neither driver has consistently challenged for the top spot in F1®.

Hamilton did offer a glimmer of hope with a Sprint Race victory in China, securing his first piece of silverware in Ferrari red, and this high was quickly extinguished following a double disappointment of disqualifications.

Lewis Hamilton has publicly acknowledged his part in the initial difficulties, citing a lack of complete understanding of the new car and his inability to extract its maximum performance. Despite this, he won the Driver of the Day award and a respectable 5th place finish in Bahrain, after a challenging 9th place qualifying grid position.

The good news for the Tifosi is that Ferrari is working hard to address these early-season challenges.

With the Miami Grand Prix just days away, a street circuit that possesses the characteristics of a full-fledged F1® track, the team aims for a significant change, aiming to fight for race wins.

After numerous meetings and considerable effort, the goal is clear: to once again compete at the forefront of the grid alongside McLaren, Mercedes, and Red Bull, restoring Ferrari's reputation as a consistent front-running force.

Charles Leclerc's solid third-place finish in Saudi Arabia offered a glimpse of what Ferrari is capable of, and it is now poised as a crucial moment for them to deliver on their promise.

Upgrades are on their way, and the understanding of the SF-25 is deepening.

Significantly, the team opted for intensive work at their Maranello headquarters instead of a break after the initial triple-header.

Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were ordered back to analyse the SF-25.

Both drivers, who were set to work by Frederic Vasseur, were tasked with improving the balance, performance, braking, acceleration, and the entire aerodynamic package. They meticulously reviewed setups tailored to each driver.

Frederic Vasseur undoubtedly has the hardest job in racing, as the global brand expects results and Ferrari fans expect them instantly. This week's dedication, with the drivers working alongside the aerodynamics team, mechanics, and technicians, highlights their commitment to finding those vital tenths of a second.

So, all eyes will be on Miami.

Could this be the weekend we witness Lewis Hamilton's maiden Formula One® victory in Ferrari colours?

Or will Charles Leclerc finally secure his first win of the 2025 season?  And with his home race in Monaco just three weeks away, Leclec will undoubtedly be laser-focused on delivering a victory on the streets of Monte Carlo.

So the stage is set for Ferrari to reignite their season and remind the world why they remain one of the top globally recognised brands and beloved names. Fingers crossed, the upgrades will be delivered, and the scarlet cars will again be battling at the front.
