A Corner-by-Corner Guide to Suzuka

This is a track built for the brave, and as we head into Round 3 of the 2026 season, the technical challenges of the new regulations are about to meet their match in these 18 iconic corners.

Here is your Senate Grand Prix guide to a lap of the 5.8km racetrack for the next race.

Turns 1 & 2

A daunting entrance. You approach the first turn at over 310 km/h in "Straight Mode." Drivers must be clinical here; as the steering wheel turns, the active aero switches to "Corner Mode" (Z-Mode), snapping the downforce back into place.

Turns 3, 4, 5 & 6 (The Esses)

The most famous sequence in racing. This is a rhythmic uphill "slalom." In the lighter, more nimble 2026 cars, this is pure magic.

F1, Haas Godzilla Livery

Turn 7 (Dunlop Curve)

A long, uphill left-hand sweeper that is now almost flat-out. This is a massive test for the ERS (Energy Recovery System).

Turns 8 & 9 (Degner 1 & 2)

Named after the legendary motorcyclist Ernst Degner, these are two sharp, punishing right-handers. Degner 1 is high-speed and terrifying; Degner 2 is slower and features a nasty curb that can unsettle the floor of the SF-26 or W17.

Turn 11 (The Hairpin)

The best overtaking spot in the middle sector. After passing under the bridge (the crossover), drivers brake hard for this slow, technical right-hander.

Turns 13 & 14 (Spoon Curve)

A double-apex left-hander that resembles—you guessed it—a spoon. The exit is everything. You need to maximise your traction out of Turn 14 to carry speed onto the massive back straight.

George Russell Japanese Grand Prix

Turn 15 (130R)

A legendary left-hand kink taken at nearly 320 km/h. Despite the 2026 cars having less downforce than the 2025 machines, 130R remains a "flat-out" challenge for the brave. Any lift here, and you’re a sitting duck on the run to the chicane.

Japanese Grand Prix Ferrari F1

Turns 16 & 17 (The Casio Triangle)

The final braking zone. This chicane has seen more championship drama than perhaps any other corner on earth.

Turn 18

A long, downhill right-hander that sweeps you onto the start-finish straight. Keep it tidy, hit the "Straight Mode" button, and pray your "Cylinder Boost" holds out!
