Monaco Sunday: The Senate Grand Prix Form Guide

Monaco Sunday: The Senate Grand Prix Form Guide It is the Sunday before the Monaco Grand Prix , and at Senate Grand Prix HQ, the coffee is strong, the lights are bright, and we are working straight through the weekend. The track build is complete, the yachts are dropping anchor in Port Hercule, and the conversation in the paddock has turned entirely to one question: Who is going to tame the streets of Monte Carlo next weekend? The tight, unforgiving barriers of Monaco mean that qualifying is 90% of the race. There is no room for error, no space to breathe, and the ultimate premium is placed on a driver’s raw qualifying single-lap pace. The Senate Grand Prix Top 5 Predictions We’ll be the first to admit we normally get our predictions completely wrong—especially in this highly volatile 2026 technical era. But after analysing the low-speed corner mechanical grip data from Miami and Montreal, our trackside team is locking in our official top five for Sunday's main event: Sir Le...

DRAMA IN BARCELONA: HADJAR HITS THE BARRIER IN PRIVATE TEST

The roar of engines has returned to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, but for the newly promoted Isack Hadjar, the sound was quickly replaced by the sickening crunch of carbon fibre against Tecpro.

In a high-stakes, private pre-season test shrouded in secrecy, Red Bull’s newest recruit found out just how unforgiving the 2026 machinery can be.

A Slippery Slope for the Frenchman

At just 21 years old, Isack Hadjar is carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. After a whirlwind debut season that saw him crowned Rookie of the Year, the Frenchman was fast-tracked into the senior Red Bull seat for the 2026 campaign. However, day two in Barcelona proved to be a harsh reality check.

Under a grey, drizzly sky and on a track that refused to dry, the drama unfolded at the high-speed final corner. Eyewitnesses—peering through the fences of the closed-door session—reported that Hadjar had just switched from full wets to intermediate tyres. On his very first lap on the green-walled rubber, the RB22 snapped.

Hadjar spun, becoming a passenger as the car slid across the damp asphalt, slamming backwards into the barriers.

Mekies Defends His Protégé

Red Bull has remained tight-lipped, ignoring official requests for comment, but Team Principal Laurent Mekies was seen offering a measured perspective.

"It was very tricky conditions this afternoon, so very unfortunate that it finished that way, but it's part of the game," Mekies noted. He was quick to point out that the crash shouldn't overshadow the progress made: "These difficulties came after a very, very positive day yesterday in terms of the number of laps Isack could complete, and his learning and development."

Isack Hadjar, Barcelona-Catalunya,

History Repeating?

Fans will remember that Hadjar is no stranger to "out-lap" jitters. He had a notoriously rough start in Australia last year after a crash on his very first lap out of the pits. He recovered then to take the grid by storm—can he do it again now that he’s wearing the senior Red Bull colours?

Testing is where mistakes should happen, but at the world’s most demanding team, the pressure is always at a boiling point.
